The comparison of precipitation measured with Hellmann gauge and automatic gauges - the example of meteorological station in Kraków

Celem pracy jest porównanie sum opadów zmierzonych przy pomocy standardowego deszczomierza Hellmanna i czujników automatycznych. Porównanie przyrządów przeprowadzono na podstawie wyników pomiarów meteorologicznych wykonywanych na Stacji Naukowej Zakładu Klimatologii IGiGP UJ w okresie od 1 XI 2013 do 31 X 2015 roku. Do określenia jednorodności serii przyjęte zostały kryteria opracowane przez Lorenc. Zgodnie z nimi jednorodność serii została uznana za zerwaną w całości dla sum rocznych i w ogromnej większości dla sum miesięcznych. Potwierdzono wyniki poprzednich badań, iż sumy opadów zarejestrowane metodą automatyczną są niższe niż mierzone za pomocą deszczomierza Hellmanna. Istnieje więc obawa postawienia błędnej hipotezy o spadkowej tendencji wysokości sum opadów na badanej stacji.

The aim of the study is to compare values of precipitation amount measured by Hellmann Gauge and automatic gauges. Comparison was carried out on the meteorological measurements conducted on Field Research Station of the Climatology Department (Institute of Geography and Spatial Management) during the period 1st November 2013 – 31st October 2015. To determine the homogeneity of the series, criteria developed by Lorenc have been adopted. According to them, the homogeneity of the series was broken entirely for annual precipitation and the vast majority of the monthly precipitation amounts. The results confirm former research results which show that that the amount of rainfall recorded by automatic gauges are lower than those measured using a Hellmann gauge. There is a risk of putting incorrect hypothesis about the downward trend in the amount of precipitation.
