Niniejsza praca dyplomowa dotyczy kwestii popularności seryjnych morderców w Stanach Zjednoczonych, na przykładzie Theodore’a Roberta Bundy’ego. Był to jeden z pierwszych zbrodniarzy, których określono terminem ‘morderca seryjny’ i grasował na terenie Stanów Zjednoczonych w latach 1974-1978. Ostatecznie mężczyzna przyznał się do zabójstwa 30. Kobiet na terenie 6. Stanów i został skazany na śmierć na krześle elektrycznym. Wyrok wykonano 24. Stycznia 1989r. w więzieniu stanowym Florydy. Jego życiorys stał się inspiracją wielu książek oraz ekranizacji filmowych. Mordercę charakteryzowała ogromna inteligencja, zdolności manipulacyjne oraz swoisty urok osobisty, przez co wiele osób początkowo wierzyło w jego niewinność. Licencjat ten składa się z trzech rozdziałów: pierwszy przybliża temat seryjnych morderców i pokazuje przykłady spoza USA, drugi opisuje życiorys Teda Bundy’ego, a trzeci powstałą wokół niego popkulturę ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem filmów. Tekst podejmuje próbę odpowiedzi na pytania o przyczyny popularności morderców wielokrotnych oraz sposób przekazywania wiedzy o nich następnym pokoleniom.

This thesis is about the popularity of serial killers in the United States, based on the example of Theodore Robert Bundy. He was one of the first criminals which were called "serial killer". He committed the murders in the years 1974-1978. Ultimately, the man confessed to the killing of 30 women in the 6th States and was sentenced to death in the electric chair. The judgment was carried out on January 24, 1989. in Florida State Prison. His biography has inspired many books and film adaptations. The murderer was characterized by great intelligence, manipulative skills and a kind of personal charm, which made many initially believe in his innocence. This bachelor's degree consists of three chapters: the first introduces the topic of serial killers and shows examples from outside the US, the second describes the life of Ted Bundy, and the third talks about the pop culture that arises around him, with particular emphasis on movies. The text attempts to answer the questions about the reasons for the popularity of multiple murderers and the way of passing knowledge about them to the next generations.
