Macro- and microstructural features of a manual as a text type. An attempt at a translation-related analysis

Niniejsza praca magisterska podejmuje próbę charakterystyki rodzaju tekstu w odniesieniu do instrukcji obsługi. W pracy została porównana instrukcja obsługi pralki, sporządzona pierwotnie w języku niemieckim oraz jej tłumaczenie na język polski. Głównym celem pracy jest udowodnienie, czy wybrana instrukcja obsługi została napisana według ogólnie przyjętych norm charakterystycznych dla tego typu tekstu oraz czy zostały one uwzględnione i zachowane w przekładzie na język polski. Praca dzieli się na dwie części, teoretyczną i analityczną. Pierwsza część porusza problematykę pracy od strony teoretycznej, stąd też zawiera informacje z zakresu translatoryki ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem pojęcia ekwiwalencji, lingwistyki tekstu oraz języka specjalistycznego. Ważną część pracy stanowi opis kryteriów podziału tekstów, które umożliwiają charakterystykę i klasyfikację instrukcji obsługi. Ponadto część teoretyczna zawiera krótki opis historii instrukcji obsługi oraz nakreśla, według jakich norm powinna ona zostać sporządzona, czemu poświęcony został osobny rozdział. W części analitycznej następuje dokładny opis makro- i mikrostruktury analizowanej instrukcji obsługi oraz jej polskiego tłumaczenia. Z opisu makrostruktury wyłaniają się typowe dla tego rodzaju tekstu cechy, jak na przykład określona budowa, informacje, które powinny być uwzględnione oraz layout. Na poziomie makrostruktury nie pojawiają się żadne różnice pomiędzy analizowanymi wersjami językowymi. Na poziomie mikrostruktury zostają przedstawione typowe dla instrukcji obsługi cechy syntaktyczne i morfologiczne oraz zestawione z polskimi odpowiednikami. W ostatnim rozdziale części analitycznej następuje próba porównania niemieckiej i polskiej wersji instrukcji na podstawie wybranych przykładów w odniesieniu do podanych w części teoretycznej typów ekwiwalencji.

The present thesis makes an attempt to characterize a type of a text with reference to a manual. In the thesis, there are a washing machine's manual, originally written in German, and its translation to Polish compared. The main goal of this paper is to prove if the manual chosen was written according to commonly accepted standards for this type of texts, and if they were taken into consideration and retained in Polish translation.The first part describes the issue of the work from theoretical side and that is why it contains information in translation, with the emphasis on equivalence, text linguistics and technical language. The important part of the thesis is a description of the criteria of texts division, which enable characterization and classification of the manual. What is more, the theoretical part includes a short description of a manual's history and defines what norms it should follow, which was dedicated a separate chapter.In the analytical part there is a precise description of macro- and micro structure of the analyzed manual and its translation to Polish. The macro structure's description shows characteristics typical for this type of a text, for example specific design, information which should be taken into consideration and a layout. At the level of macro structure, there are not any differences between these two language versions. At the level of micro structure there are introduced syntactic and morphological characteristics typical for a manual and contrasted with their Polish equivalents.In the last part of the analytical chapter there is an attempt made to compare German and Polish versions of the manual on the basis of chosen examples, concerning types of equivalents mentioned in the theoretical part.

Der Untersuchungsgegenstand Für meine Abschlussarbeit habe ich das Thema der Textsorte Gebrauchsanleitung ausgewählt. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Charakterisierung der Gebrauchsanleitung im Hinblick auf die textsortenspezifischen Merkmale und soll im Weiteren kontrastiv mit der polnischen Übersetzung gestellt und geprüft werden, ob die gleichen Normen im Zieltext übertragen werden. Die vorliegende Arbeit besteht aus dem theoretischen und dem analytischen Teil Zunächst werden das Thema aus dem theoretischen Blickwinkel betrachtet, später folgt die praxisorientierte Feinanalyse, was die Gliederung der Arbeit im theoretischen- und analytischen Teil reflektiert. Am Anfang wird der Begriff des Übersetzens, sowie Äquivalenz definiert. Danach sollen Ansätze zur Beschreibung von Fachsprachen präsentiert werden. Bei der Betrachtung der Textsorten wird auf die Vielfalt der Definitionen hingewiesen, sowie die Textsortendifferenzierung bezüglich der Gebrauchsanleitung vorgestellt. Im analytischen Teil, der auf den Vorüberlegungen der theoretischen Kapitel basiert, wird die Gebrauchsanleitung auf der makro-und mikrostrukturellen Ebene charakterisiert, indem die Regularitäten und Unterscheide zwischen dem deutschen und dem polnischen Text in Form von Satzmustern und häufigen Wortkombinationen der Textsorte Gebrauchsanleitung präsentiert werden.
