The identity of the people of Ukrainian origin , the third generation after Operation Vistula

Według Narodowego Spisu Powszechnego Ludności ukraińską identyfikację deklaruje 49 tys spośród wszystkich mieszkańców Polski. Część z nich stanowią osoby przesiedlone w 1947 roku w akcji "Wisła" i ich potomkowie. Praca jest rezultatem badań na temat tożsamości osób ukraińskiego pochodzenia w Polsce, trzeciego pokolenia po przesiedleńczej akcji "Wisła". Główne zagadnienia, które są w niej poruszane to tożsamość narodowa, asymilacja i ojczyzna. Praca, między innymi, odpowiada na pytania: Jaka jest tożsamość badanej grupy? Z jakich elementów jest konstruowana? Jaką rolę w formowaniu jej tożsamości odgrywają inni mieszkańcy Polski? Co uważają za swoją ojczyznę? Rezultaty badań przedstawiają grupę osób ukraińskiego pochodzenia jako dobrze zintegrowaną z polskim społeczeństwem, jednocześnie posiadającą odrębną, dość silną ukraińską tożsamość narodową. Najważniejszymi elementami z których tworzona jest ukraińska tożsamość jest język, religia (głównie grekokatolicyzm), ukraińskie tradycje i historia.

According to the National Census of Population ukrainian identify declares 49 thousand of all inhabitants of Poland. Some of them are people displaced in 1947 in the Vistula Operation and their descendants. The work is the result of research about the identity of people of Ukrainian origin in Poland , the third generation after Opreation Vistula. The main issues that are raised in it are national identity , assimilation and homeland.The work answers the questions : What is the identity of the group? What are the elements they construct their identity? What role in forming the identity of the group play other inhabitants of Poland? What they consider to be their homeland?Research results show, that a group of people of ukrainian origin is well integrated into Polish society. They also have separate, relatively strong ukrainian national identity. The most important emenents are: ukrainian language, religion (Greek Catholic Church), ukrainian traditions and history.
