A dynamic development of infrastructure in Poland results in alteration of consumption model and municipal solid waste (MSW) production. Although MSW production is lower than in other EU countries, methods of its’ utilization still do not meet the rational waste management requirements. Waste management policy has been intensively modernized focusing mainly on the decreasing Iandfilling paralleled with the promotion of 3R, composting and rational incineration. Effectiveness of all these methods depends greatly on public participation. In the following paper, we present attitudes and readiness of Poles to the active participation in the waste management. Our study is based on the home advisor technique – one of most effective methodology of public communication – which we tested in the southern municipalities of the country.
