Social Credit System - the future of social control systems?

Tematem niniejszej pracy jest Social Credit System (SCS) - jeden z największych i najważniejszych projektów dotyczący nowoczesnych technologii i zarządzania społecznego, przeprowadzanych obecnie przez rząd Chińskiej Republiki Ludowej. SCS jest pierwszym tego typu systemem oceny i kontroli społecznej w historii ludzkości. Jego przeanalizowanie oraz zrozumienie stanowi kwestię wysokiej wagi dla dalszego prowadzenia polityki i biznesu z Chinami.Praca złożona jest z trzech rozdziałów. Rozdział pierwszy stanowi zarys teoretyczny oraz krótkie wprowadzenie do omawianej tematyki. Rozdział drugi poświęcony jest omówieniu najważniejszych elementów systemów, jego historii, sposobu działania, oddziaływania na społeczeństwo, poziomu akceptacji społecznej, a także analizę wpływu systemu na sytuację firm prowadzących działalność w Chinach. Trzeci rozdział stanowi refleksję nad implikacjami płynącymi z wprowadzenia systemu SCS. Przedstawione zostaną w nim także korzyści i zagrożenia wynikające z systemu, z którymi będą musiały mierzyć się zarówno Chiny ja i inne kraje świata.

The major objective of this thesis is the Social Credit System (SCS) – one of the greatest and the most important projects in the area of new technologies and social management, that is currently being carried out by the government of the People’s Republic of China. SCS is the first digitalized social control and scoring system of its kind in human history. It is crucial to analyze and understand the SCS system in order to make the right decisions concerning politics and doing business with China.This thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter constitutes an introduction to the thesis’s subject area. The second chapter provides an overview of the most crucial aspects related to the system, its history, modus operandi, its effect on Chinese society, the level of social approval, and a short analysis of its impact on companies that conduct their business operations in China. Conclusions are drawn in the third chapter. The advantages and disadvantages of SCS will be analyzed, as well as the system-related threats and benefits, both China and the world will have to deal with.
