Culinary Culture of the Tatars in Poland. Exploring its understanding and awareness amongst the Polish.

Niniejsza praca licencjacka analizuje kulturę kulinarną Tatarów w Polsce oraz bada poziom jej znajomości wśród Polaków. Przedstawiono w niej definicje kultury kulinarnej, mniejszości etnicznej oraz dokonano porównania kultury mniejszości z kulturą dominującą. Zaprezentowano dania kuchni tatarskiej i porównano je z potrawami polskimi, aby ukazać występujące między nimi podobieństwa. Badania zostały przeprowadzone przy użyciu ankiety skierowanej do Polaków zamieszkujących różne regiony kraju. Celem badań było ustalenie, czy Polacy są zaznajomieni z kulturą kulinarną Tatarów. Wyniki potwierdziły hipotezę, że znajomość tatarskich potraw oraz samej kultury kulinarnej jest wśród Polaków niska. Mimo to, respondenci ocenili kuchnię tatarską pozytywnie, a większość wyraziła chęć jej spróbowania.

This bachelor's thesis analyses the culinary culture of the Tatars in Poland. It explores the level of understanding of their culinary culture amongst the Polish and provides comparison between the minority and the dominant cultures. The thesis showcases and compares Tatar dishes to Polish dishes, highlighting the similarities between them. The research underpinning it is based on the survey results conducted amongst the Polish residing in various regions of the country. The aim of the study was to determine whether the Polish are familiar with the Tatar culinary culture. The results have shown that the level of knowledge and awareness of Tatar cuisine and culinary culture is low. However, the research does evidence that the general stance toward the Tatar cuisine is positive and that the majority of the Polish respondents would be willing to try it.
