English-Polish-German Glossary of Climbing Terms

Celem niniejszej pracy jest stworzenie polsko-angielsko-niemieckiego glosariusza terminów z zakresu wspinaczki sportowej oraz analiza zgromadzonego w niej materiału terminologicznego. Część praktyczna pracy została poprzedzona częścią teoretyczną, na którą składają się wprowadzenie do dziedziny, analiza zagadnień z leksykologii i leksykografii oraz terminologii i terminografii, przegląd ich historii, a także analiza relacji terminologii z innymi dziedzinami językoznawstwa (nauki kognitywne, komunikacja, przekład). Szczególną uwagę poświęcono opisowi procesu kompilacji glosariusza terminologicznego oraz omówieniu istniejących metod tworzenia terminów specjalistycznych.

The purpose of this thesis is a detailed analysis of rock-climbing terminology as well as terminology of the related sport disciplines. The aim of this paper is to create Polish-German-English glossary of rock-climbing terms and its analysis. The practical part of this work is preceded by theoretical part which includes introduction and a brief history of rock-climbing in the world as well as in Poland, analyses of the fields of lexicology and lexicography as well as terminology and terminography. Furthermore, this thesis explores the relationship between terminology and other fields of linguistics (such as cognitive science, communication and translation). A particular focus is being placed on the process of glossary compilation and formation of new terms.
