Oncological illness as an experience and its impact on somatisation in 21st century women's cancer literature on the basis of Aneta Żukowska's Mięcho and Audre Lorde's The Cancer Journals

Praca podejmuje problematykę wpływu choroby onkologicznej na literaturę kobiecą XXI wieku. Obejmuje obszary zarówno narracyjne, jak i somatyczne. Skupia się wokół tekstów Anety Żukowskiej i Audrey Lorde. Nowotwór stanowi ideę przewodnią w obu tych dziełach, co pozwala na dogłębne zrozumienie, jak kobiety reagują na diagnozę, proces leczenia oraz jak wpływa to na ich poczucie tożsamości. Praca zagłębia się w relacje między lekarzem a pacjentem, a także unaocznia wpływy kulturowo-społeczne na jednostkę w procesie hospitalizacji i rekonwalescencji. Po omówieniu powyższych zagadnień przedstawione zostają różnorodne formy i gatunki narracji maladycznych. Praca przedstawia najważniejsze zagadnienia z obszaru literatury kancerograficznej i nie abstrahuje od problemów wynikających z pisania autopatograficznego. Ostatni rozdział przedstawia najbardziej istotne dla omawianego tematu aspekty cielesności, samoakceptacji, buntu i seksualności.

The thesis deals with the issue of the influence of oncological illness on women's literature of the 21st century. It involves both narrative and somatic approaches. The thesis is based on texts by Aneta Żukowska and Audrey Lorde. Cancer is the main theme in both of these works, allowing an in-depth analysis of women's reaction to the diagnosis, the treatment and how it affects their sense of self-identity. The thesis delves into the doctor - patient relationship and reveals the cultural and social influences on the individual in the process of hospitalization and convalescence. After discussing these issues, various forms and genres of maladic narratives are presented. The thesis presents the main issues of cancer literature and does not disregard the problems that stem from autopathographic writing. The final chapter presents aspects of corporeality, self-acceptance, rebellion and sexuality that are the most relevant to the topic of the thesis.
