Myth about Orpheus and Eurydice in culture - history and present

Celem niniejszej pracy było prześledzenie historii recepcji oraz sposobów interpretacji mitów orfickich na przestrzeni wieków. Praca ma charakter opisowy i próbuje realizować założenia kulturowej teorii literatury, właściwej badaniom nurtu cultural studies i komparatystyki kulturowej. W pierwszej części autor rozpatrzył szereg problemów dotyczących kultury popularnej – jej historii, roli w życiu człowieka, związanych z nią uprzedzeń oraz przyczyn różnicowania jej względem kultury wysokiej. Drugą część poświęcił pojęciu intertekstualności oraz sposobom ujmowania jej w badaniach nad kulturą, literaturą i innymi mediami. W rozdziale trzecim podjął wątek mitów i ich roli w życiu społecznym, religii, polityce i literaturze. Ostatni rozdział zawiera natomiast przegląd tekstów kultury pod kątem obecności w nich wpływów mitów orfickich. Są w nim również zawarte autorskie interpretacje wybranych tekstów kultury ponowoczesnej inspirowanych wspomnianym mitem. Praca zakończona jest podsumowaniem badań, w którym autor wyraził opinię na temat znaczenia mitów orfickich w kulturze i sztuce.

The aim of the study was to investigate the history of reception and interpretations of orphic myths over the centuries. Paper is descriptive and tries to implement the assumptions of cultural theory of literature, cultural studies and cultural comparative. In the first part author considered a number of problems related to popular culture – its history, its role in human life, bias toward it and reasons of distinguish between popular and high culture. The second part was focused on the concept of intertextuality and the various ways of describing it in studies on culture, literature and other medias. In the third chapter author took up the topic of myths and their role in social life, religion, politics and literature. The last chapter contains the overview of orphic myths presence and influence in culture. It also presents original interpretations of selected postmodern cultural texts inspired by these myths. In conclusion of the research author expresses the opinion about the importance of orphic myths in culture and art.
