The Chechen Wars in Sokurow's movie. "Alexandra" 2007

Pod koniec XX wieku pojawiły się pierwsze filmy o wojnach czeczeńskich, takie jak Czyściec w reżyserii Aleksandra Niewzorowa. Innowacyjne podejście do tej tematyki przedstawił wybitny twórca Aleksander Sokurow w filmie Aleksandra z 2007 roku. W swoim filmie skupił się na relacjach pomiędzy bohaterami oraz na ich przeżyciach wewnętrznych. W rozdziale pierwszym została przedstawiona biografia Aleksandra Sokurowa, jednego z najbardziej zasłużonych i najczęściej nagradzanych reżyserów rosyjskich. W rozdziale drugim ukazano historię konfliktu rosyjsko – czeczeńskiego od roku 1991 do 2009 oraz przebieg I i II wojny czeczeńskiej. Analiza filmu została przedstawiona w rozdziale trzecim, w którym postawiono następujące pytania: jak zostały przedstawione wojny czeczeńskie w filmie? Jak wojna wpływa na relację pomiędzy bohaterami filmu?

First movies about Chechen Wars were created in the late 20th century. One of them was “Czistiliszczie” directed by Aleksander Niewzerow. Another outstanding creator, Aleksander Sokurow, took an innovative approach to this subject in the 2007 movie “Aleksandra". He focused on relationships between the characters and their mental experiences. The first chapter presents a biography of Aleksander Sokurow – one of the most distinguished and acclaimed Russian film director. Chapter two shows the history of conflict between Chechenya and Russia, including outcome of the first and the second war from 1991 to 2009. The last, third chapter involves analysis of the film, trying to answer some questions: How were the chechen wars presented in this movie? In what way does the war affect the characters?
