Praca stanowi popularno-naukową edycję poradnika Ireny Stypianki „Sztuka uprzejmości. Zasady i formy dobrego wychowania” (wyd. pierwsze 1936, wyd. drugie 1938). Obecne wydanie podzielone zostało na trzy części: wstęp społeczno-obyczajowy, nota edytorska i tekst poradnika, który opatrzono przypisami i podano zgodnie z współczesnymi zasadami ortograficznymi. Książka traktuje o zasadach savoir-vivre’u obowiązujących w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym. Autorka poruszyła zagadnienia związane z modą, rodziną, zachowaniem w miejscach publicznych, stosunkami towarzyskimi i handlowo-zawodowymi. Wstęp jest poszerzeniem zawartej w poradniku tematyki o kontekst obyczajowo-polityczny zbudowany przede wszystkim na podstawie innych poradników dobrych manier wydanych w latach 1918–1939.

The papers presents popular edition of Irena Stypianka' handbook: "The art of courtesy. Principles and forms of good manners" (first edition published in 1936 and second in 1938). The present edition is divided into three parts: social and moral introduction, editorial note and text of the handbook, which are provided with footnotes and given in accordance with modern spelling rules. The book presents the prnciples of savoir-vivre in the interwar period. The author touched on issues related to fashion, family, behavior in public social, trade and profession relationships. Introduction is an extension of the subject matter discussed in this handbook to the moral and political context built primarily on the basis of other good manners hanbooks published in the years 1918–1939.
