Integration and cultural adaptation of refugees in Poland

Variety of migration processes are inherent in the modern world. After 1989, Poland became a state, which began to flow increasingly visible group of immigrants, and the Polish community became ethnically and culturally diverse. In this situation, becomes increasingly important issue of integration of immigrants. A special group of immigrants, which are refugees. The pourpose of this paper is to analyze the integration processes and the adaptation of refugees in Poland.The first chapter presents an overview on the issue of migration and migrants. It describes the migration from the perspective of the theory, its causes and effects, the impact of migration on the culture. Lists and describes a special group of immigrants, which are refugees.In the second chapter I discusses the experience of Polish migration since 1989, lists of refugees residing in our country, and presents the demographic characteristics of these groups. Next are described the main assumptions of modern Polish immigration and asylum policy.The third chapter I present the issues of integration and cultural adaptation in terms of theory. I present definitions of basic concepts such as acculturation, adaptation, assimilation. Wider discusses issues of integration, describes its mechanisms and dimensions, and also raises the issue of integration of refugees.The last chapter presents issues related to the integration problems of refugees. I present the overall situation of refugees and their experiences of life in Poland. Then I describe the relationship between the host society and refugees.

Natężone i różnorodne procesy migracyjne są nieodłącznym elementem współczesnego świata. Po 1989 Polska, do tej pory kraj tradycyjnie emigracyjny, stała się państwem, do którego zaczęły napływać coraz bardziej widoczne grupy imigrantów, a społeczeństwo polskie stawało się zróżnicowane etnicznie i kulturowo. W tej sytuacji, coraz większego znaczenia nabiera kwestia integracji imigrantów. Szczególną grupą imigrantów, na którą należałoby zwrócić uwagę są uchodźcy.Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza procesów integracyjnych i adaptacyjnych uchodźców w Polsce. Rozdział pierwszy przedstawia ogólne spojrzenie na zagadnienie migracji i migrantów. Opisuje migracje z punktu widzenia teorii, jej przyczyny i skutki, wpływ migracji na kulturę. Wyszczególnia i opisuje specjalną grupę imigrantów, jaką są uchodźcy. W rozdziale drugim omówione zostały doświadczenia migracyjne Polski po roku 1989, wyszczególniono grupy uchodźców przebywających w naszym kraju oraz przedstawiono charakterystykę demograficzną tych grup. Dalej opisane zostały główne założenia współczesnej polskiej polityki imigracyjnej i azylowej.Rozdział trzeci prezentuje tematykę integracji i adaptacji kulturowej z punktu widzenia teorii. Przedstawia definicje podstawowych pojęć takich jak akulturacja, adaptacja, asymilacja. Szerzej omawia zagadnienia integracji, opisuje jej mechanizmy i wymiary, a także porusza kwestię integracji uchodźców.W ostatnim rozdziale przedstawione zostały zagadnienia związane z problemami integracyjnymi uchodźców. Zaprezentowana została ogólna sytuacja uchodźców oraz ich doświadczenia związane z życiem w Polsce. Następnie zostały opisane relacje pomiędzy społeczeństwem przyjmującym a uchodźcami.
