Tattoo as an element of the prison subculture and its diffusion to the modern culture

Głównym tematem pracy jest zjawisko tatuażu więziennego oraz jego przenikanie do kultury współczesnej. Esej składa się z czterech rozdziałów. Pierwszy z nich definiuje zagadnienia związane z kulturą, teoriami podkultur oraz podkulturą więzienną. Rozdział drugi zawiera wprowadzenie w zjawisko tatuażu wraz z krótkim zarysem jego historii. Kolejne rozdziały stanowią część główną pracy, gdzie trzeci rozdział poświęcony został dokładniejszemu opisowi tatuażu więziennego by czytelnik mógł spojrzeć na problem właśnie przez pryzmat postrzegania tatuażu jako dewiacji podkulturowej, aby wreszcie, mając na uwadze bogatą historię zjawiska zauważyć, że współcześnie tatuaż wychodzi poza ramy podkultury więziennej i w zmienionej, estetycznej formie przenika do kultury współczesnej.

The main theme of this dissertation is devoted to a phenomenon of a criminal tattoo in the prison subculture and its diffusion to the modern culture. The essay consists of four chapters. The first part is defining issues associated with the culture, theories of the subcultures and the prison subculture. The chapter two introduces into the phenomenon of the tattoo and the short description of its history. Next chapters constitute the main part of the work, where the third chapter is devoted to an accurate description of the prison tattoo for the reader who will look at the problem through the prism of noticing the tattoo as a subcultural deviation, and finally, bearing in mind the rich history of the phenomenon, notice that in our times the tattoo is coming out beyond the frames of the prison subculture and in the changed, aesthetic form is diffusing into the modern culture.
