Immigration in European Union - Greece as an example

Thesis concentrate on the phenomenon of immigration in the European Union with particular emphasis on Greece. Not only is the position of the European Union about immigrants shown but also the Greece position and immigration and asylum policies. Thesis describes legal reforms and regulatory programs that were introduced in Greece in order to regularize the situation of immigrants. Work is divided into four chapters that describes not only the policy towards immigrants, but also the profile of immigrants the nationalities most frequently migrate to Greece, what is the age range and what gender and education are most common. The actual situation of immigrants in Greece is also discussed from the point of view of the Greek authorities and also from the immigrants themselves. Particular emphasis is placed on illegal immigration to Greece and the European Union and ways to deal with this phenomenon. The summary contains the conclusion and evaluation of activities of Greece and the EU in the fight against illegal immigration.

Praca koncentruje się na zjawisku imigracji w Unii Europejskiej ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Grecji. Ukazane jest stanowisko Unii i Grecji względem imigrantów oraz ich polityka imigracyjna i azylowa. Opisano reformy prawne i programy regulacyjne, które zostały wprowadzone w Grecji w celu uregulowania sytuacji imigrantów. Praca podzielona jest na 4 rozdziały w których opisano nie tylko samą politykę wobec imigrantów, ale także profil imigrantów czyli jakie narodowości najczęsciej migrują do Grecji, jaki jest przedział wiekowy i jaka płeć oraz wykształcenie. Poruszono również tematykę faktycznej sytuacji imigrantów w Grecji nie tylko ze strony władz greckich, ale także na podstawie opinii samych imigrantów. Szczególny nacisk położono na nielegalną imigrację do Grecji i Unii Europejskiej oraz sposoby radzenia sobie z tym zjawiskiem. W podsumowaniu zawarto konkluzję i ocenę działań Grecji jak i Unii w walce z nielegalną imigracją.
