The cultural diplomacy of Great Britain in Poland on the example of the magazine 'Voice of England' in the years 1946-1999

Celem pracy jest ukazanie prowadzonej przez Wielką Brytanię dyplomacji kulturalnej wobec Polski na podstawie czasopisma „Głos Anglii”. W pierwszy rozdziale zaprezentowano dzieje stosunków polsko-brytyjskich oraz działalność Ambasady Brytyjskiej i British Council na ziemiach polskich. Następnie zarysowano charakterystykę prasy krakowskiej w latach czterdziestych oraz ogólnopolskiej po 1989 roku. Trzeci i czwarty rozdział został poświęcony analizie artykułów z „Głosu Anglii” dotyczących między innymi oświaty, kultury, nauki, obyczajów, sportu i rodziny królewskiej.

The purpose of the work is to show the cultural diplomacy conducted by Britain towards Poland on the basis of the magazine "Voice of England". The first chapter presents the history of Polish-British relations and the activities of the British Embassy and the British Council on Polish land. Then the characteristics of the Cracow press in the 1940s and the nationwide press after 1989 were outlined. The third and fourth chapter were devoted to an analysis of articles from the Voice of England on education, culture, science, customs, sports and the royal family, among other subjects.
