Sign language – a tool for expressing emotions and creative activity of the deaf community

Praca jest zwięzłym omówieniem różnych aspektów użytkowania i użytkowników języka migowego. W każdym rozdziale autorka porusza problematykę z zakresu socjologii, antropologii i innych nauk humanistycznych, zbierając również dane ilościowe oraz przybliżając prawne regulacje dotyczące języka migowego oraz g/Głuchych - jako mniejszości. Poszczególne fragmenty, w których omawiany jest dany problem lub zagadnienie, posiada cytaty, które nie tylko potwierdzają postawione tezy, ale również odsyłają do kolejnych lektur, dzięki którym można prześledzić tok pisania tej pracy. Szczególnie istotny jest tutaj polski język migowy oraz zwrócenie uwagi na fakt, iż osoby niesłyszące nie tylko posiadają własną historię i kulturę, ale przede wszystkim - w twórczy sposób potrafią przekazywać emocje, a ich artystyczna działalność nie powinna być oceniana jedynie przez etyczny pryzmat, związany z niepełnosprawnością. Autorka chciała ukazać rozmaite perspektywy oraz sposoby odbioru i interpretacji języka migowego, ale też posługujących się nim jednostek - szczególnie osób pozbawionych słuchu.

This BA thesis is a brief overview of various aspects of sign language use and users. In each chapter, the author deals with issues in the field of sociology, anthropology and other humanities, also collecting quantitative data and presenting legal regulations concerning sign language and the deaf - as a minority. Particular fragments in which a given problem or issue is discussed, have quotations that not only confirm the assessment that were made, but also refer to subsequent readings, thanks to which you can follow the writing of this work. In this text the polish sign language is particularly important as well as drawing attention to the fact that deaf people not only have their own history and culture, but most of all - they are able to communicate emotions in a creative way, and their artistic activity should not be evaluated solely through the ethical prism related to disability. The author wanted to show various perspectives and ways of reception and interpreting sign language, but also individuals who use it - especially people who are deaf.
