The role of postgraduate studies in improving the qualifications of information professionals. Database project on postgraduate studies offered by Polish universities teaching in the field of information science, library science, bibliology and information management.

Przedmiotem pracy jest edukacja osób dorosłych, będąca częścią kształcenia ustawicznego. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na studia podyplomowe. Celem pracy jest diagnoza roli, jaką pełnią studia podyplomowe na tle innych form edukacji, a także identyfikacja pełnionych przez nie funkcji oraz wskazanie problemów związanych z tą formą kształcenia. W pracy wykorzystano metodę analizy i krytyki piśmiennictwa, pod uwagę zostały wzięte publikacje z lat 2010-2018, w języku polskim i angielskim. Na ich podstawie omówiona została rola edukacji na rynku pracy oraz w zawodach informacyjnych oraz przyczyny powodujące konieczność zachowania ciągłości kształcenia. Dokonano również przeglądu różnych definicji kształcenia ustawicznego oraz wskazano na różnice pomiędzy nimi. Scharakteryzowane zostały ponadto wybrane formy kształcenia. Opracowano także projekt bazy danych integrujący informacje o studiach podyplomowych z zakresu informacji naukowej, bibliotekoznawstwa, bibliologii i zarządzania informacją

The subject of the work is the adult education, which is part of lifelong learning. Particular attention was paid to post-graduate studies. The aim of the work is to diagnose the role of postgraduate studies in the context of other forms of education as well as to identify the functions they perform and indication of problems related to this form of education. The study used a method of analysis and criticism of literature, they have been taken into consideration publications from the years 2010-2018, in Polish and English. Based on them, the role of education on the labor market and in information professions and the reasons that make it necessary to maintain the continuity of education are discussed. The different definitions of lifelong learning were also reviewed and differences between them were pointed out. In addition, selected forms of education have been characterized. A database project was also developed that integrates information about postgraduate studies in the field of information science, library science, bibliology and information management.
