Sensuality, physicality and desire. Modernists' depiction of Salome (Moreau- Huysmans- Kasprowicz)

Postać Salome budzi ambiwalentne uczucia. Ta, która pojawia się w Biblii, nie ma wiele wspólnego z modernistycznym wizerunkiem, który ukazuje ją w znacznie bardziej negatywnym świetle. Biblijna Salome w większym stopniu była narzędziem w rękach swojej matki, która miała decydujący udział w zbrodniczym akcie. Modernizm zatem wykreował własny wizerunek dziewczyny jako femme fatale, kobiety fatalnej. Co więcej, twórcy tamtego okresu zaczęli traktować ją przedmiotowo, postrzegając głównie przez pryzmat cielesności, którą mocno akcentuje większość utworów poświęconych tej postaci. Praca zawiera również analizę środków, które stosuje w celu podkreślenia własnej atrakcyjności oraz zwraca uwagę na świadomość bycia obiektem pożądania mężczyzn.

Salome figure raises ambivalent feelings. This, which appears in the Bible, does not have much in common with the modernist image, which shows her in a more negative light. Biblical Salome was rather an instrument in the hands of her mother who had a decisive part in the criminal act. Modernism, therefore, created a girl's self-image as a femme fatale. Moreover, creators of this period began to treat her objectively, seeing her as a body, what accentuates the majority of works devoted to this character. The work contains an analysis of the measures that are used to highlight the attractiveness and draws attention to awareness of being an object of desire for men.
