Influence of the synoptic situations on the thermal conditions that determine the development of orchard in Pogórze Wielickie

Głównym celem pracy jest określenie wpływu sytuacji synoptycznych na występowanie stosunków termicznych warunkujących rozwój sadownictwa na Pogórzu Wielickim: przymrozków, silnych mrozów, sum temperatur aktywnych, długości okresu wegetacyjnego, długości okresu bezprzymrozkowego. Do przeprowadzenia badań wykorzystano dobowe dane meteorologiczne z lat 1988-2010, pochodzące ze Stacji Naukowej IGiGP UJ w Gaiku-Brzezowej, kalendarz sytuacji synoptycznych T. Niedźwiedzia, a także mapy synoptyczne Europy.W zasadniczej części pracy wyznaczono dni z określonymi warunkami termicznymi wpływającymi na rozwój sadownictwa, a następnie obliczono częstość ich występowaniaw poszczególnych typach cyrkulacji. Ponadto na podstawie map synoptycznych dokonano szczegółowej analizy wybranych przypadków.Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników, postawiono poniższe wnioski. Sumy temperatur aktywnych na Pogórzu Wielickim są wystarczające dla większości gatunków i odmian roślin sadowniczych. Występowaniu przymrozków sprzyjało przede wszystkim występowanie klina antycyklonalnego. Występowaniu silnych mrozów w okresie zimowym sprzyjały sytuacjez klinem antycyklonalnym, cyrkulacją antycyklonalną ze wschodu i południowego-wschodu oraz z centrum wyżu.

The main aim of this paper is to assess the influence of the synoptic situations (frosts, heavy frosts, sum of active temperatures, length of vegetation period and frost-free period) on the thermal conditions that determine the development of orchard in Pogórze Wielickie. The research is based on the daily meteorological data from the period of 1988―2010, gathered by Stacja Naukowa IGiGP UJ in Gaik-Brzezowa as well as the calendar of meteorological situations elaborated by T. Niedźwiedź and synoptic charts of Europe. In the essential part of the research, the days with particular thermal conditions were determined; all of these days have a particular impact on the development of orchard. Then, their frequency in a particular type of circulation is calculated. This paper includes also detailed analysis of chosen cases created on the basis of the synoptic charts.On the basis of those calculations the following conclusions were proposed. The sum of active temperatures in Pogórze Wielickie is adequate for the majority of species and varieties of fruit plants. Ground frosts were mostly favoured by the anticyclonic wedge, whereas the occurrence of heavy frosts in winter was most likely during the situations with an anticyclonic wedge, anticyclonic circulation from East and South-East and in the center of highs.
