Diversity and species richness of weevils (Coleoptera: Curculionoidea) in the Pieniny National Park - state of knowledge

Celem pracy licencjackiej było poznanie różnorodności i bogactwa gatunkowego ryjkowców (Coleoptera: Curculionoidea) Pienińskiego Parku Narodowego w oparciu o wszystkie dostępne informacje na ten temat. Gromadzenie danych polegało na stworzeniu systematycznego spisu gatunków ryjkowców występujących na terenie Pienin, wraz z podziałem na Pieniny Centralne, Pieniny Spiskie oraz Małe Pieniny. Lista gatunków zawiera ponadto zgromadzone dane, takie jak inne nazwy użyte w publikacjach naukowych, sięgających do drugiej połowy XIX wieku, rośliny żywicielskie oraz waloryzację faunistyczną, z podaniem gatunków unikatowych dla omawianego pasma Karpat. Zgromadzone dane wskazują, że na terenie Pienin występuje 390 gatunków ryjkowców, a najliczniejsze są rodziny Curculionidae oraz Apionidae. Obecne są także liczne gatunki „rzadkie”, kserotermofilne, wilgociolubne oraz górskie, których występowanie związane jest z wyjątkowymi warunkami panującymi w Pieninach.

The aim of the Bachelor's thesis was to identify diversity and species richness of weevils (Coleoptera: Curculionoidea) of the Pieniny National Park based on all available information on the subject. Data collection consisted in the creation of a systematic list of weevils species occurring in the Pieniny area, with a division into Pieniny Centralne, Pieniny Spiskie and Małe Pieniny. The list of species also includes collected data, such as other names used in scientific publications dating back to the second half of the 19th century, host plants and faunistic valorisation, including species unique to this range of the Carpathians. The collected data indicate that 390 species of weevils occur in the Pieniny, with the most numerous being the families Curculionidae and Apionidae. There are also numerous ‘rare’, xerothermophilic, humidophilic and mountain species, whose occurrence is related to the unique conditions in the Pieniny.
