The Chef : analysis of a culinary comedy rendered in Polish

Celem niniejszej pracy było ukazanie różnic i podobieństw, w przekładzie audiowizualnym, między językiem francuskim i polskim na przykładzie komedii. Do głównych metod badawczych należała analiza tekstów źródłowych (artykułów, książek, książek naukowych). Ponadto przeanalizowano francuską komedię Comme un chef i porównano ją z polską wersją Faceci od kuchni w wersji lektorskiej. W pierwszym rozdziale przedstawiono historię audiowizualności oraz różne metody tłumaczenia audiowizualnego. Drugi rozdział został poświęcony dawnej i teraźniejszej kuchni francuskiej. W ostatnim rozdziale przeanalizowano film Comme un chef w polskiej wersji lektorskiej, a dokładniej tytuł i film w odniesieniu do komizmu i kulinarystyki.

The purpose of this work was to demonstrate differences and similarities, in audiovisual translation, between French and Polish on the example of comedy. The main research methods included the analysis of source texts (articles, books, academic books). Moreover, the French comedy Comme un chef was analysed and compared with the Polish version of Faceci od kuchni in voice-over. The first chapter presents the history of audiovisuality and various methods of audiovisual translation. The second chapter was devoted to past and present French cuisine. The last chapter analyses the film Comme un chef in the Polish voiceover version, more specifically the title and the film in relation to comedy and cooking.

Le but de cette étude était de démontrer les différences et les ressemblances dans la traduction audiovisuelle entre le français et le polonais à travers le comique. Les méthodes principales auxquelles nous avons eu recours étaient des textes ainsi que leur source (des articles, des livres, des ouvrages critiques). De plus, nous avons analysé une comédie française Comme un chef et comparé à la version polonaise, Faceci od kuchni, en voice-over. Dans le premier chapitre, nous présentons l’historique de l’audiovisuel, l’historique de la traduction audiovisuelle et les différentes méthodes de traduction audiovisuelle. Le second chapitre est consacré à la cuisine française d’avant et d’aujourd’hui. Dans le dernier chapitre, nous analysons le film Comme un chef à sa version polonaise en voice-over, plus précisément, le titre et le film au niveau comique et culinaire.
