Niniejsza praca stawia sobie za cel interpretację filmu "I'm Not There. Gdzie indziej jestem". Todd Haynes podejmując temat tak skomplikowanego i zagadkowego artysty jak Bob Dylan, zrealizował utwór równie złożony i enigmatyczny, tworząc na jego potrzeby nowatorski język i posługując się wielopoziomowym przekazem. Wykazał się przy tym imponującą skrupulatnością i pomysłowością w odczytywaniu biografii muzyka, przekształcając ją w wyszukane rozwiązania narracyjne i estetyczne.Autor szkicu stara się zaprezentować wyjątkową metodę twórczą reżysera, wykraczającego daleko poza ramy tradycyjnego filmu biograficznego oraz zrozumieć zastosowany przez niego szyfr i rozpoznać pozostawione dla widza tropy. The objective of this master's thesis is to interpret I’m Not There. By undertaking a topic of such a complicated and mysterious artist like Bob Dylan, Todd Haynes created an equally complex and enigmatic movie, constructed of an innovative language and a multi-layered medium. These qualities are demonstrated in an impressive attention to detail and resourcefulness while reading the musician’s biography and transforming it into sophisticated narrative and esthetic solutions. The author of the thesis aims to introduce director’s exceptional creative methods that reach far beyond a traditional film biography, understand his code and recognize trails left for the addressee. The analysis refers to Dylan’s biography, the richness of the circumstances surrounding it, inspiration and artistic demands of the American singer. It points out the strong mythologization of his character in connection to the broader background of the music industry, to which, by assembling his own legend, Dylan contributes himself.Furthermore, the author explores Bob Dylan’s character in the context of a postmodernity theory (particularly in the Zygmunt Bauman’s approach), as a brilliant example of the postmodern tourist’s identity.
