Animals in Pueblo Indians Culture

Praca skupia się na przedstawieniu roli zwierząt w kulturze Indian Pueblo, ale także tych kultur pośrednio związanych z Pueblo, którzy zamieszkują Południowy-Zachód Ameryki Północnej (tzw. region Four Corners - amerykańskie stany Arizona, Kolorado, Utah i Nowy Meksyk), a które oddziaływały pośrednio lub bezpośrednio na Pueblo od ok 100 BC. Tematyka pracy dotyczy zarówno aspektów materialnych (przedmioty codziennego użytku tj. ceramika czy kosze) jak i nie materialnych (organizacja społeczna - nazewnictwo klanów od nazw zwierząt - czy obecność zwierząt w mitach i wierzeniach Indian Pueblo) w okresie przed jak i historycznym. Celem pracy jest zebranie i usystematyzowanie istniejącej dotychczas wiedzy oraz odpowiedź na pytanie: w jakim stopniu zwierzęta były częścią świata Indian Pueblo, jaką rolę w nim ogrywały i do dziś odgrywają?

This Paper aims on the role of the animals in the Pueblo Indian culture, as well as those cultures indirectly associated with Pueblo, which inhabit the South-West of North America (the so-called Four Corners region of Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico), and those which has been acting directly or indirectly on Pueblo since around 100 BC. The subject matter deals with both the material aspects (everyday objects i.e. ceramics or baskets) and non-material (social organization as the clans' names from the animal names and the presence of animals in the myths and beliefs of the Pueblo Indians) in the pre-historical and historical periods. The purpose of the work is to gather and systematize the knowledge already existing and to answer the question: How far were the animals part of the Indian Pueblo world and what role did they play in and still play today?
