The internationalization of NGOs in contemporary international law

The idea of civil society assumes, inter alia, dissemination of non-governmental forms of organization. It may seem that, in this regard, it has been successful. Moreover, in the era of globalization, more and more non-governmental organizations are getting engaged in international activities. The legal position of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in international relations is crucial for success and effectiveness of these activities. In order to determine it, it is required to establish a number of issues, including: whether the legal personality of NGOs is recognized by international law?, how the legal personality can be obtained? and what it consists of? In the first part, the development of the concept of 'non-state actors' is within the subjectivity of international law is examined. Then, the activity of non-governmental organizations in international relations is presented. Eventually, the international legal personality of NGOs is considered.
