Scale and dynamism of suicide attempts amongst prisoners in years 2006-2010

Praca poświęcona została zagadnieniu rozmiarów i dynamiki prób samobójczych więźniów. Każdy człowiek w mniejszym lub większym stopniu przeżywa uczucie strachu na myśl o śmierci. Tak samo jest w przypadku ludzi młodych jak i starych. Młodzi zastanawiają się nad sensem życia i umierania, natomiast starzy, znajdujący się u kresu życia wiele by dali, aby przedłużyć je chociaż o kilka lat, odsunąć myśl o śmierci na czas odleglejszy. Nawet ludzie chorzy, czy cierpiący rzadko chcą skrócić swoje męki wybierając śmierć samobójczą. Dlaczego więc jest tak, że osoby zamknięte w jednostkach penitencjarnych targną się na swoje życie?Autorka pracy podejmuje próbę ukazania przyczyn, motywów, skutków prób samobójczych więźniów. Analizując różne czynniki tj.: sytuację rodzinną, przyczyny skazania, długość wyroku, przeszłość kryminalną, stosunki z innymi współwięźniami, stan zdrowia i inne, próbuje uchwycić zależności między nimi a podejmowaniem przez badanych mężczyzn prób samobójczych.

This work is dedicated to the problems of dynamic suicide attempts and its size.Every human, more or less fears death, regardless his age. Young people think about the meaning of life and death, while the old ones at the end of their journey would give a lot to stay alive for just one more year or two. Even people who are ill and in suffering, don’t want end their lives by committing suicide. What’s the reason behind people locked in penitentiaries trying to end their lives?The author of the work attempts to show the motive, reason and outcome of suicide attempts among the prisoners. By analyzing different factors such as: family situation, reason of conviction, length of sentence, criminal past, the relations between prisoners, health and other aspects, author is trying to find relations between them and the suicide attempts of prisoner.
