Niniejsza praca dotyczy medycyny tradycyjnej w santerii i wudu. Jej głównym celem jest przedstawienie sposobów i technik tradycyjnego uzdrawiania w obu religiach. Rozprawa wyjaśnia również, jak wyznawcy wudu i santerii rozumieją pojęcia zdrowie i choroba. Ponadto próbuje wyjaśnić, dlaczego naturalny sposób leczenia jest nadal tak popularny w obu tradycjach. W pierwszym rozdziale przedstawiono wszystkie ważne terminy i teorie dla tego artykułu. Następny rozdział jest podzielona na dwie oddzielne części, dla lepszego zrozumienia i jaśniejszego przedstawienia omawianego tematu. Pierwsza z nich zaczyna się od opisu tradycji uzdrawiania w santerii. Następny rozdział wprowadza podstawową wiedzę z zakresu ziołolecznictwa. Kolejne podrozdziały dotyczące wykorzystania rytuałów w procesie leczenia. Całość zakończona jest podsumowaniem zawierającym przykłady tradycyjnego leczenia, które zakończyły się sukcesem. Drugi podrozdział związany jest z tradycją uzdrawiania w wudu. Struktura obu części jest podobna. Najpierw opisane są sposoby leczenia w wudu. Potem przedstawiane są rośliny używane w tradycyjnym leczeniu. Następnie opisana jest najwyższa część leczniczej hierarchii wudu. W przedostatnim rozdziale przedstawione zostały choroby kulturowe. Na końcu pracy przytaczane są przykłady leczenia w wudu.

The thesis deals with the topic of folk medicine in santeria and vodou. Its main purpose is to demonstrate ways of traditional healing in both mention traditions. The dissertation also explains how terms illness and health are understand by the followers of both religion. Moreover, it tries to explain why the natural way of treatment is still so popular in those traditions. The first chapter introduces all important terms and theories for this paper. The following unit is divided into two separate line, for better understanding and clear depiction. The first line starts with description of santeria healing tradition. Then the herbalism is introduced. After that there are subsections dealing with usage of rituals in santeria healing tradition. The passage ends with examples of folk medicine successful treatment. The second line is connected with vodou healing tradition. The structure is similar. Firstly, the ways of vodou treatment are depicted. Afterwards the plants used in healing are presented. Next, the highest part of whole healing hierarchy is described. Then special section for cultural illness followed. Last but not least, the real examples of vodou treatment are presented.
