Celem niniejszej pracy licencjackiej jest ukazanie tarota jako fenomenu. Zagłębiając się w historię rozwoju tych kart dostrzec można wiele fascynujących powiązań między nimi a kulturą nie tylko europejską, ale też azjatycką. Wiele z aspektów jego historii nie zostało ostatecznie potwierdzonych, a wiele z nich to tylko hipotezy. Jego losy są ściśle powiązane z historią i staję się swoistym zwierciadłem tego, co działo się przez wieki. Nie ulega wątpliwości, iż tarot wciąż cieszy się zainteresowaniem nie tylko wśród tarocistów, ale też wśród artystów. Takim przykładem jest bez wątpienia chilijski reżyser Alejandro Jodorowsky. Jego twórczość poprzeplatana jest symbolami i alegoriami zaczerpniętymi z tarotowej mistyki. Artysta posługuje się nim nadając swoim obrazom filmowym swoistej głębi. Należy zastanowić się w jakim stopniu owa symbolika wpływa na twórczość Jodorowskiego, w których momentach się przejawia i jakie niesie ze sobą treści.

The aim of the following work is to show tarot as a specific phenomenon. Delving into the history of the development of these cards, allows us to see many connections between tarot and both European and Asian cultures. Many of its historical aspects haven't been proven properly yet, and many of them are just a hypothesis. Its fate is firmly bound and became a kind of a mirror of past ages as they flew. Without any doubt tarot is still popular not only among specialist, who can read the cards, but also among artists such as Alejandro Jodorowsky, famous director from Chile. His works are full of symbols and allegories drawn from tarot's mysticism. The artist uses them to add certain degree of depth to his pictures. It is to be considered, how mantioned symbolism affects his work, when it is clearly visible and what kind of content it brings.
