Images of homosexual people in the Polish TV series

Telewizja odgrywa dziś ważną rolę w procesie formowania ludzkiej tożsamości oraz sposobów postępowania. Sposób w jaki prezentuje ważne społecznie zagadnienia, problemy czy tematy tabu wpływa na ich funkcjonowanie w dyskursie społecznym. Osoby o odmiennej orientacji seksualnej coraz częściej pojawiają się w polskich serialach. Istotne jest zatem, aby zbadać w jaki sposób są przedstawiane w mediach. Praca dyplomowa podejmuje próbę analizy wizerunków osób homoseksualnych prezentowanych w polskich serialach telewizyjnych. Jej celem jest eksploracja i opis przedstawionego zagadnienia, a także dążenie do wzbogacenia wiedzy o osobach i zjawiskach będących przedmiotem badań. W trakcie badań autorce udało się odpowiedzieć na pytanie jakie wizerunki osób homoseksualnych prezentują polskie seriale? Czy są one pozytywne czy negatywne? Do jakich wartości związanych z płcią odwołują się twórcy seriali? Analiza odbyła się w kontekście badań kulturoznawczych, medioznawczych, socjologicznych oraz gender studies.

Television plays an important role today in the process of the formation of human identity and practices.The way in which presents important socially problems or topics taboos affect their functioning in social discourse. Persons with a different sexual orientation are increasingly appear in the TV series. It is important, therefore, to examine how they are presented in the media.The present thesis tries to analysis of the images of homosexual people presented in the Polish television. Its purpose is to explore and describe the issues presented,as well as striving to enrich the knowledge of the people and phenomena which are the subject of research. During the research author was able to answer the question of what kind of images of homosexual people represent the Polish TV series? Are they positive or negative? Which gender values referenced by the creators of the series? The analysis took place in the context of the research cultural studies, media studies, sociological and gender studies.
