The perception of Polish TV series has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving into a sophisticated form of cultural expression. TV series have become powerful tools for cultural communication, shaping societal awareness and conveying diverse values and messages in the twenty-first century. A substantial focus of the article is on the evolution of LGBTQIA+ representation in Polish television series, with a spotlight on the portrayal of homosexuality and transgenderism. The analysis extends to the acclaimed Netflix mini-series Królowa (The Queen), which seeks to challenge prevailing stereotypes by featuring an older drag queen. The examination also delves into the representation of lesbian relationships in the Polish series Kontrola (Control), noting the historical invisibility of homosexual women in TV narratives. Despite occasional stereotypes, Kontrola stands out for its nuanced portrayal of lesbian love, confronting societal controversies and emphasizing the normalcy of LGBTQIA+ life in Polish society. While acknowledging the progress in LGBTQIA+ representation in Polish television, the article critiques certain limitations, such as a tendency to conclude narratives, with coming-out moments and a lack of boldness in portraying unconventional relationships.
