The psychosocial factors and the level of professional burnout among male and female nurses.

STRESZCZENIEProblem wypalenia zawodowego to choroba cywilizacyjna, która może dotyczyć każdego i na każdym stanowisku. Największe ryzyko jego występowania związane jest z wykonywaniem zawodów wymagających intensywnych kontaktów z ludzmi oraz pomaganie im. Reprezentantami tych zawodów są między innymi pielęgniarki i pielęgniarze. Doświadczają oni w swojej pracy coraz więcej stresu, z którym ciężko sobie poradzić, wyczerpują się fizycznie i psychicznie, są chronicznie zmęczeni i coraz mniej zadowoleni z pracy co może prowadzić do wypalenia zawodowego.Celem niniejszej pracy było poznanie związku pomiędzy wybranymi czynnikami psychospołecznymi a poziomem wypalenia zawodowego pielęgniarek. Grupę badawczą stanowiło 47 pielęgniarek i 3 pielęgniarzy pracujących na Oddziale Anestezjologii i Intensywnej Terapii w Szpitalu Specjalistycznym w południowej Polsce. W badaniu wykorzystano kwestionariusze ankiety: Ateńskiej Skali Bezsenności dotyczący zaburzeń snu, kwestionariusz stresu zawodowego, kwestionariusz dotyczący zmęczenia a także kwestionariusz MBI Maslach, który bada poziom wypalenia zawodowego. Zebrany materiał badawczy poddano analizie statystycznej.Uzyskane wyniki wykazały, że personel pielęgniarski Oddziału Anestezjologii i Intensywnej Terapii jest wypalony zawodowo oraz, że istnieje związek między wypaleniem zawodowym i stresem oraz zaburzeniami snu i zmęczeniem.

SUMMARYThe problem of professional burnout is that it is one of the civilization diseases and it may affect anyone regardless his or her profession or position. The biggest risk of burnout is mainly connected with doing jobs involving intensive interpersonal contacts with people and helping them. The male and female nurses are, among others, the representatives of a high-risk profession. They are exposed to a lot of stress that is difficult to deal with. They experience physical and mental exhaustion. Moreover, they are chronically tired and less satisfied with their job what, as a result, may lead to professional burnout.The purpose of that thesis was to get to know the connection between some of the psychosocial factors and the level of professional burnout among male and female nurses. The group undergoing the examination was composed of 47 female nurses and 3 male nurses who work in the Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit in the Specialists’ Hospital in southern Poland. The study includes the questionnaires and surveys, such as Athenian Scale of Insomnia concerning sleep disorder, questionnaire examining the professional stress level, questionnaire dealing with tiredness, and physical exhaustion, and MBI Maslach questionnaire examining the level of professional burnout. The collected material undergone the statistical analysis.The obtainedresults demonstrated that the female and male nurses in the Anaethestiology and Intensive Care Unit are burn out. In addition, there is relation between professional burnout and stress, sleep disorder and tiredness.
