The aim of the thesis is to show the manifestations of the American 1960s counterculture, revealed in movies that are visual documentation of the well known festivals of the era. Such movies as "Festival!", "Monterey Pop", "Woodstock" and "Gimme Shelter" created a story about counterculture, from its beginning to the fall. The author analyzes the images in the context of direct cinema, introduces other films made within the trend, that overarching theme was music.
Celem pracy jest ukazanie przejawów amerykańskiej kontrkultury lat 60., sportretowanych w filmach dokumentujących festiwale muzyczne epoki. W wyniku zestawienia filmów "Festival!", "Monterey Pop", "Woodstock" oraz "Gimme Shelter" powstaje opowieść o kontrkulturze, od jej narodzin do upadku. Autor analizuje te obrazy w kontekscie kina bezpośredniego, przybliża również pozostałe filmy zrealizowane w obrębie nurtu, których nadrzędnym tematem była muzyka.
