Travel experiences of people with disabilities

Niniejsza praca podejmuje temat podróżowania osób z różnego rodzaju oraz różnymi stopniami niepełnosprawności. Jej celem jest poznanie sposobów funkcjonowania tej grupy, zrozumienie jej potrzeb, możliwości, a także ograniczeń i barier różnego charakteru, które napotykają te osoby podczas podejmowania aktywności społecznej, jaką jest podróżowanie i turystyka. Pierwsza część opracowania jest wprowadzeniem w tematykę niepełnosprawności. To próba kondensacji obserwacji, wiedzy i regulacji z różnych dziedzin naukowych, które dotyczą zagadnień związanych z niepełnosprawnością. Odwołanie się do tła historycznego, przedstawienie terminów prawniczych, a także sięgnięcie po terminologię stosowaną w turystyce, mają na celu ukazanie interdyscyplinarnego i złożonego charakteru tego zagadnienia.W kolejnej części opisano cel niniejszej pracy, problem oraz postawione pytania badawcze. Przedstawiono w niej również metodę badawczą, a także scharakteryzowano grupy respondentów. Pod koniec rozdziału został także opisany przebieg prowadzonych badań. Najważniejsza część niniejszego opracowania jest analizą wywiadów z ekspertami działającymi na rzecz środowiska osób z niepełnosprawnościami oraz samymi osobami z niepełnosprawnościami (ruchowymi oraz narządu wzroku) na temat ich doświadczeń związanych z podróżowaniem. Wypowiedzi te konfrontowane są z informacjami pozyskanymi od firm, które działają w sektorze turystyczno-transportowym. Pod koniec analizy zostały opisane refleksje respondentów na temat niepełnosprawności w kontekście podróżowania – ich subiektywne doświadczenia oraz próba uchwycenia przez nich obrazu niepełnosprawności obecnego w mediach oraz w społeczeństwie. Ostatnią część publikacji stanowią wnioski oraz refleksje końcowe na temat badań, prowadzonych w duchu społecznym oraz disability studies.

This master's thesis deals with the travel of people with various types of disabilities and their degrees. Its aim is to get to know how this group functions in society, to understand its needs and possibilities. The diploma thesis also addresses the issues of barriers that these people face during social activities such as traveling and tourism.The first part of the study is an introduction to the subject of disability. It is an attempt to present information from observations, knowledge and regulations from many scientific fields that include the subject of disability. This part also refers to the historical and legal context as well as the science of tourism. Its aim was to show the interdisciplinary and complex nature of this issue.The next part describes the purpose of the work, the problem and the research questions posed. It also presents the research method and groups of respondents. At the end of the chapter, the research was also described.The most important part of the work is the analysis of interviews conducted with experts acting for the benefit of the disabled people community and with the disabled themselves (with mobility and sight disabilities) who shared their travel experiences. This made it possible to confront information obtained from companies that operate in the tourism and transport sector. At the end of the analysis, the respondents' reflections on disability in terms of traveling were described - their subjective experiences and the image of disabled people in the media and society.The last part of the publication consists of conclusions and final reflections on research conducted in the social aspect and disability studies.
