UNPROFOR peacekeeping mission in the Former Yugoslavia with with particular emphasis on participation of Polish Army in the years 1992-1995

Niniejsza praca licencjacka ma za cel zaznajomić w wielu płaszczyznach odbiorcę z tematyką misji pokojowej UNPROFOR oraz udziałem w niej Wojska Polskiego. Na początku pracy poruszony został wątek historii Jugosławii i pokrótce opisany został przebieg wojen z lat 1991-1995. W kolejnej części pochyliłem się nad dokładnym objaśnieniem pojęcia misji pokojowej, by płynnie przejść do wieloaspektowego opisu misji UNPROFOR. Ostatnia część pracy traktuje o udziale żołnierzy Wojska Polskiego, uczestniczących w tej misji. Z pomocą specjalistycznej literatury oraz wspomnieniom weteranów podjąłem się próby ukazania misji z jak największymi szczegółami. Zawarty został również wątek o cywilnych funkcjonariuszach służących pod błękitną flagą. Na łamach pracy staram się rozprawić z mitami i krzywdzącymi opiniami, które narosły wokół misji UNPROFOR i udziale w niej żołnierzy Wojska Polskiego.

This bachelor's thesis is intended to familiarize the recipient on many levels with the subject of the UNPROFOR peacekeeping mission and the participation of the Polish Army in it. At the beginning of work, the topic of the history of former Yugoslavia is raised and the course of the wars of 1991-1995 briefly described. In the next part, I focused on a detailed explanation of the concept of a peacekeeping mission to smoothly move on to a multi-faceted description of the UNPROFOR mission. The last part of the work deals with the participation of Polish Army soldiers who had the opportunity to participate in this mission. With the help of specialized literature and the memories of veterans, I have attempted to show the mission as detailed as possible. There is also a thread about civilian servants serving under the UN flag. In my work, I try to deal with the myths and harmful opinions that have accumulated around the UNPROFOR mission and the participation of soldiers of the Polish Army in it.
