Flauberta analizuje rolę konwenansów w życiu kobiet w XIX wieku, poprzez porównanie postaci Marty Świckiej z powieści Marta i Emmy Bovary z powieści Pani Bovary. Na początku pracy przedstawiony jest wpływ społecznych konwenansów na takie sfery kobiecego życia, jak edukacja czy małżeństwo. BA thesis entitled Woman in the Corset of Conventions. The creations of the heroines of Marta by E. Orzeszkowa and Madame Bovary by G. Flaubert analyzes the role of conventions in the lives of women in the 19th century by comparing the characters of Marta Świcka from the novel Marta and Emma Bovary from the novel Madame Bovary. At the beginning of the work, the influence of social conventions on such spheres of women's life as education and marriage is presented. It then analyzes the fate of the female characters and compares how they deal with the imposed restrictions. Then the possible consequences of the fulfillment of the heroines' dreams are discussed. It also considers the relevance of Emma and Marta's stories to contemporary society and the impact they have on issues of femininity and social expectations. The conclusion summarizes the conclusions of the analysis and presents an overall picture of the impact of conventions on women's lives in the 19th century, as well as their relevance to modern society. It reminds us that the heroines of both novels are important literary examples that make us reflect on the role and position of women in society, as well as their struggle against imposed expectations.
