Keitai Shosetsu - wypełnianie luki między amatorstwem a uznaniem

W roku 2000 japońska scena literacka powitała nowość w postaci keitai shōsetsu (jap. 携帯小説), znanych również pod nazwą „cell phone novels” w języku angielskim. Nowele te biorą swoje imię od japońskiego słowa na telefon komórkowy, keitai (jap. 携帯). Chociaż w tamtym czasie większość odbiorców uważała je za amatorskie prace, te krótkie narracje przyciągnęły uwagę i zainteresowanie milionów ludzi. Poniższa praca bada keitai shosetsu jako zjawisko literackie, które wykracza poza prace amatorskie. Dodatkowo praca pokazuje również, w jaki sposób te krótkie, epizodyczne historie, stały się czymś więcej, łącząc ludzi, uzyskując różnego rodzaju adaptacje, jak filmy lub manga, albo jak niektóre z nich stały się najlepiej sprzedającymi się książkami. Metodą zastosowaną w tej pracy jest analiza książek, artykułów, oraz innych źródeł internetowych związanych z tematem nowel komórkowych. Nowele użyte jako główne przekłady w tej pracy to Deep Love, Wolf Boy x Natural Girl i Koizora. Poprzez analizę tych nowel komórkowych i nie tylko, praca pokazuje, jak te historie wpłynęły na świat literacki, tworząc trendy, inspirując inne gatunki na całym świecie, praz jak wykraczają poza zwykłe amatorskie historie.

In the year 2000, the Japanese literary scene welcomed a new addition in the form of keitai shōsetsu (Jpn. 携帯小説), also known as “cell phone novels” in English. Those novels take their name from the Japanese word for mobile phone, keitai (Jpn. 携帯). Though, at the time, most recipients dismissed them as amateur works, those short narratives captured the attention and interest of millions of people. The following paper studies keitai shōsetsu as a literary phenomenon which extends beyond amateur works. Alongside that is also shows how those short, episodic stories became something more, by bringing people together, getting various adaptations in different forms of media, like movies or manga, and how some of them became best-selling books. The method used in this paper is an analysis of books, articles, and other internet sources related to the topic of cell phone novels. The novels used as primary examples in the paper are Deep Love, Wolf Boy x Natural Girl, and Koizora. Through analysis of those cell phone novels, and more, the work shows how those stories had an impact on literary world, creating trends, inspiring other genres around the world, and extending beyond mere amateur writing.
