Contemporary icon writing in Poland. Tendencies and directions of development.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest omówienie tendencji i kierunków rozwoju współczesnego ikonopisarstwa w Polsce. Obecnie ikony stają się coraz bardziej popularne, widoczna jest swoista "moda" na ikony. Są one częstym prezentem z okazji różnych okoliczności.Jedną z głównych przyczyn wzrostu zainteresowania ikoną w Polsce jest otwarcie się na nią Kościoła katolickiego. Powstaje wiele pracowni ikonograficznych, zarówno przykościelnych jak i indywidualnych o bardzo zróżnicowanym poziomie. Prowadzone są także liczne kursy i warsztaty ikonopisania.Wiąże się to z komercjalizacją ikonopisarstwa - ikona staje się towarem handlowym. Zmienia ulega pojęcie ikony i kanonu. Powoli zatraca się teologiczno-symboliczne znaczenie ikony, która staje się kolejnym obrazkiem o tematyce religijnej.

The aim of this paper is reporting tendencies and directions of development contemporary icon writing in Poland.Nowadays icons become more and more popular, they are 'trendy'. Icons are often giving as present of various occasions.One of the main reasons for the increased interest in the icon is opening for it Catholic Church. There are many workshops of icon writing related to Church, but no only, with different levels od art. There are also courses of icon writing.It is related with commercialization of iconography in Poland - icons become commercial goods. The definition of icon and canon is changed. Icons are losing their theological and symbolic meaning. They became next picture of a religious character.
