Analiza tekstualno-stylistyczna języka recenzji filmowych w brytyjskiej i amerykańskiej „quality press” w XXI w.

W mojej pracy magisterskiej analizuję recenzje filmowe reprezentujące filmy różnych gatunków pod względem ich budowy oraz zawartości środków stylistycznych. W pierwszym rozdziale omawiam strukturę recenzji filmowej i opisuję części z jakich się składa. Z kolei w rozdziale drugim skupiam się na leksykalnych środkach stylistycznych takich jak: metafora, personifikacja, metonimia, synekdocha, ironia, porównanie, antyteza, hiperbola, eufemizm. W mojej analizie wykorzystałam dwanaście anglojęzycznych recenzji dotyczących dwunastu brytyjskich i amerykańskich filmów z sześciu gatunków filmowych. Wszystkie recenzje pochodzą z brytyjskiej i amerykańskiej “quality press”: The Guardian, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, The New York Times z okresu: 2001-2016. Do przeprowadzenia analizy pod kątem strukturalnym wykorzystałam tylko połowę zgromadzonego materiału: po jednej recenzji reprezentującej dany gatunek filmowy. Recenzje filmowe dotyczące filmów z różnych gatunków filmowych różnią się między sobą, m.in pod względem omówionych tematów i poruszonych w nich kwestii dotyczących różnych aspektów filmu, a także zawartością i różnorodnością środków stylistycznych. Każda recenzja filmowa jest wyjątkowa ze względu na swój język i styl, jednakże można zaobserwować pewne powtarzające się schematy, które mam nadzieję skutecznie przedstawiłam i omówiłam w tej pracy. W analizowanych przeze mnie recenzjach najczęściej występowały metafory i porównania. Literatura prezentująca analizę recenzji filmowych pod względem ich językowej i figuratywnej kompozycji jest znikoma, a co za tym idzie otwiera drogę do dalszych badań.

In my thesis, I would like to analyse from the structural and figurative point of view film reviews commenting on the films representing different filmic genres. In Chapter 1, I describe the form and content of film reviews in general. In Chapter 2, I present the concept of figurativeness, especially the main tropes such as metaphor, personification, metonymy, synecdoche, irony, simile, antithesis, hyperbole, understatement. In Chapter 3, I conduct a textual analysis on the basis of information included in Chapter 1 and provide a detailed analysis of the figures of speech I have identified in the selected reviews. I have examined twelve different English-language reviews characterizing twelve different British and American films related to the six different filmic genres. All the reviews come from the quality British and American newspapers: The Guardian, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, The New York Times from the period: 2001-2016. I have conducted the textual analysis only on six reviews in order to present the representatives of each review type. My analysis has shown a variety of covered topics and aspects of the film which the reviewers touched upon in their texts. It is not surprising that the reviews concerning films that represent distinct filmic genres should differ in terms of figures of speech, too. Every film review is unique in its language and style, however, some patterns can be observed which, hopefully, I have managed to present, discuss and explain in this thesis. I have also identified the most frequently used tropes: metaphors and similes. The critical literature on the subject of the linguistic and figurative composition of film reviews is scarce and offers opportunities of further research.
