W poniższej pracy badam wybrane tytuły z satyrycznej twórczości Paula Verhoevena oraz wyszczególniam istotną relację między systemami a ich predyspozycją do prowokowania satyry. Wyselekcjonowane przeze mnie dzieła pokazują różnorodne obiekty humorystycznej krytyki i służą jako ilustracja metod kpienia z rzeczywistości, jakie stosuje holenderski reżyser. Należą do nich między innymi: karykatura, subwersja, wizualny kamp. W poszczególnych rozdziałach analizuję krytykę kolejno systemów władzy państwowej, przemysłu rozrywkowego oraz szeroko rozumianą kulturę Stanów Zjednoczonych Ameryki, zawarte w wybranych filmach Paula Verhoevena. Istotna dla tekstu jest też rola mediów jako czynnika współodpowiedzialnego za przewinienia punktowane przez Holendra.

In the following paper I examine the selected satirical work of Paul Verhoeven. I highlight the relationship between the systems and their predisposition to provoke satire. The selection showcases a variety of subjects for humorous critique and serves as an illustration of methods for mocking reality used by the Dutch director; such as the visual kamp. Other methods touched upon in this paper are the caricature and the subversion. In each chapter I analyze the criticizm of the systems of governance, entertainment industry and broadly defined culture of the United States of America, contained in the selected works of Paul Verhoeven. Mass media play an important part in this paper as well because of their role as accessories to the vices that the Dutch director is critical of.
