Sztuczne utrzymywanie życia za wszelką cenę, w nie uzasadnionych przypadkach, jako uporczywa terapia, i eutanazja, jako druga skrajność godząca w wartość, i godność życia ludzkiego.Rozdział drugi dotyczy śmierci, umierania w największych religiach, a mianowicie: islamie, katolicyzmie, judaizmie, hinduizmie. W każdej z nich śmierć nie jest końcem wszystkiego, ale przejściem do innego życia, o czym mówi wizja życia pozagrobowego w każdej religii. Zakłada ona, że w zależności jak postępujemy w życiu doczesnym (dobrze, czy źle), tak będzie wyglądało nasze życie w wieczności (jako nagroda lub kara). Rytuały pogrzebowe, akceptacja śmierci, jako ważne elementy w każdej religii.
