The relationships of self-control as a feature with the main personality traits

Celem pracy było zbadanie związków samokontroli ujmowanej jako cechy z głównymi cechami Pięcioczynnikowego Modelu Osobowości. Przebadano 105 kuracjuszy kilku ośrodków sanatoryjnych, w tym 63 kobiety i 42 mężczyzn w wieku 31-83 lat. Badani wypełniali kolejno dwa kwestionariusze, najpierw kwestionariusz pomiaru cechy samokontroli NAS-50, złożony z 50 twierdzeń, a następnie Inwentarz Osobowości NEO PI-R, który składa się z 240 twierdzeń. W wyniku analizy testem r-Pearsona wykazano silną ujemną korelację z Neurotycznością, dodatnią słabą korelację z Ekstrawertycznością oraz silną dodatnią korelację z Sumiennością. Nie ujawniono natomiast istotnych statystycznie związków samokontroli z Ugodowością i Otwartością na doświadczenie.

The aim of the work was to examine the relationships of self-control as a trait with the main features of the Five-Factor Personality Model. The researcher examined 105 people, including 63 women and 42 men aged 31-83. They completed two questionnaires, first a questionnaire measuring the NAS-50 self-control feature, made up of 50 items, followed by the NEO PI-R Personality Inventory, which consists of 240 items. As a result of the r-Pearson test, a strong negative correlation with Neuroticism, a positive weak correlation with Extraversion and a strong positive correlation with Conscientiousness were revealed. However, no statistically significant associations of self-control with the Agreeableness and Openness to experience were discovered.
