The Influence of Mass Opium Cultivation on the Life of Afghans.

Praca dotyczy masowej uprawy opium w Afganistanie – jej uwarunkowań, przyczyn, historii oraz skutków. Skupia się głównie na obecnej sytuacji mieszkańców państwa. Porusza problem szerzącej się wśród Afgańczyków narkomanii oraz kwestie rozwoju organizacji terrorystycznych na terenie kraju. Można w niej znaleźć też informacje o stanowisku afgańskiego rządu i amerykańskich sił zbrojnych względem produkcji opiatów. Opisuje również problem, z jakim muszą zmagać się kraje sąsiadujące, przez które przemycane są opium i heroina. Praca ma na celu pokazać, co grozi mieszkańcom Afganistanu, którzy czerpiąc duże zyski z uprawy, zagrażają bezpieczeństwu wewnętrznemu państwa i masowo stają się ofiarami produkowanych przez siebie narkotyków.

This paper investigates the mass cultivation of opium in Afghanistan, its history, its agronomy, its incentives, and its consequences. It focuses primarily on the current relationship of Afghans with opium. It identifies the problem of increasing rates of drug addiction amongst Afghans and the role of opium in the development of terrorist organizations within the country. It also features information concerning the standpoint of the Afghan government and the United States Armed Forces on the production of opium. Furthermore, it describes the problems that the surrounding countries in South-Central Asia have endured due to opium smuggling within and across their territories. This paper will showcase the menace of opium to Afghanistan, and address the dichotomy between those who reap substantial benefits from its cultivation while undermining national security and those who are quickly becoming addicted on a massive scale.
