Article 177 of the Polish Civil Code stipulated: "The provisions concerning the acquisition of ownership by acquisitive prescriptions shall not apply if the real estate is the object of state ownership". The article was in force from 1 January 1965 until 30 September 1990. The subject of the study is the acquisitive prescription of real estates which lost the status of state-owned real estates during this period. In particular, the study concerns the commencement of acquisitive prescription and the term of acquisitive prescription of those real estates.
