Praca porusza temat relacji książąt świdnickich z Władysławem Łokietkiem i Kazimierzem Wielkim oraz znaczenia sojuszu polsko-świdnickiego dla dziejów całego Śląska. Najważniejszym dla analizowanego tematu okresem jest czas przyjaźni Bolka II Małego z Polską, tj. lata 1326-1353, jednak w pracy zostały również omówione rządy poprzedników świdnickiego księcia: Bolka I Srogiego oraz Bernarda Statecznego. Zamierzeniem autora jest pokazanie stosunków polsko-świdnickich z perspektywy obu partnerów i zbadanie wagi, jaką do tej relacji przykładali. Szczególne zainteresowanie twórcy pracy wzbudziły powiązania rodzinne Bolka II, które mogły uczynić z niego następcę Kazimierza Wielkiego na polskim tronie. W analizie polskiego prawa sukcesyjnego oraz sytuacji międzynarodowej z lat 30-tych XIV wieku autor stara się wyjaśnić, dlaczego nikt takiego projektu nie podjął.
The thesis deals with the subject of the relationship between the dukes of Świdnica and Polish kings: Ladislaus the Short and Casimir the Great as well as the significance of the Świdnica-Poland alliance for the history of the whole region of Silesia. For the subject studied, the most important time is between the years 1326-1353 i.e. the time of friendship between Poland and Bolko II the Small, but the thesis analizes also the times of Bolko’s precedessors: Bolko I the Strict and Bernard the Staid. The aim of the author is to present the Świdnica-Poland relations from the perspective of both parties as well as to establish how much both parties valued the alliance.The author is particularly interested in the family connections of Bolko II the Small, which could entitle him to become the heir of Casimir the Great and aspire for the Polish throne. By analysing Polish succession law and the international situation in 1330s, the author is trying to establish why there was no attempt to use these connections for Bolko’s favour.
