Śmiertelnie przerażony: Jak TO Stephena Kinga wywołuje strach u czytelnika

To Stephena Kinga uważane jest za powieść z gatunku bildungsroman, historii o dorastaniu grupy przyjaciół. King nie oszczędza swoich postaci by pokazać nam jak odmiennie radzą sobie one w sytuacji zagrożenia i jak działa na nie lęk. Czego wymaga od nich proces dorastania? Co kryje się w zakamarkach ich umysłów? Co ich przeraża a co jest źródłem ich siły? Na te pytania staram się odpowiedzieć w swojej pracy, opierając się o powieść Kinga, która wzbudza zarówno miłość jak i nienawiść, dzieląc fanów na całym świecie. W swojej pracy postaram się odkopać prawdziwe źródło strachu samego czytelnika. Chce pokazać, że nawet niepozorny stosik kartek wypełnionych tuszem może przenieść ludzi do ich przeszłości i zmusić do stawienia jej czoła.

It by Stephen King is considered to be a bildungsroman, a story about the coming of age of a group of friends. King puts his characters through a wringer to show us their varying responses to danger and fear. What do these characters go through in order to truly mature? What hides inside their minds? What scares them and what is their source of courage? I try to answer these questions in my thesis based on King’s novel which evokes both love and hate and divides fans across the globe. In my thesis I will try to unearth the true source of fear for the reader itself. To show that even an innocuous stack of pages filled with ink can transport people to their past and force them to confront it.
