The beginning of the pandemic in English, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian and Italian memes. Comparative analysis.

W niniejszej pracy za pomocą analizy porównawczej zostaną wydzielone główne wątki memów internetowych z początku pandemii w pięciu językach: angielskim, polskim, rosyjskim, ukraińskim i włoskim. Celem pracy jest wykazanie podobieństwa tematyki i wyglądu dowcipów internetowych w różnych językach, tworzonych w czasie pierwszej fali pandemii COVID-19. W części empirycznej materiał badawczy, w postaci memów, zostanie uporządkowany wedle kategorii i podkategorii odpowiadających etapom przebiegu pandemii, co kolei pozwoli na wyciąganie wniosków odnośnie tego, co martwiło internautów w tym czasie.

This thesis will demonstrate the main themes of Internet memes from the beginning of the pandemic in five languages - English, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian and Italian - using comparative analysis. The purpose of the thesis is to demonstrate the similarity of the themes and appearance of Internet jokes, created during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, in different languages. In the empirical part memes will be organized according to categories and subcategories corresponding to the stages of the pandemic, which in turn will allow us to draw conclusions about what worried Internet users at that time.
