Psychological roles in the family of origin, levels of resilience and parenting attitudes among Adult Daughters of Alcoholics

Celem niniejszej pracy było zbadanie wpływu ról przyjętych w dysfunkcyjnej rodzinie pochodzenia (Bohatera, Maskotki, Zagubionego Dziecka i Kozła Ofiarnego, Żelaznego Dziecka) na podejmowane już w dorosłości postawy rodzicielskie (akceptacji-odrzucenia, nadmiernie wymagającej, autonomii, niekonsekwentnej, nadmiernie ochraniającej) w przypadku kobiet wychowywanych w rodzinie z problemem alkoholowym. Odkrycia współczesnej psychologii na temat prężności i jej wpływ na pozytywny rozwój jednostki, mimo wcześniejszych negatywnych doświadczeń, postanowiono potraktować ją jako mediator wspomnianych dwóch zmiennych. W ten oto sposób w pierwszym rozdziale części teoretycznej przybliżono teorie postaw rodzicielskich i jej transformację na przełomie lat. Wspomniano również o tym, jak postawy rodzicielskie są postrzegane przez dzieci oraz, jak wpływają na ich zachowanie. W części drugiej skupiono się na zjawisku prężności psychicznej, jej determinantach i sposobach rozwijania. Ostatnia część rozważań teoretycznych skupiona jest wokół ról podejmowanych przez dzieci w rodzinie dysfunkcyjnej. Na podstawie omówionej teorii naukowej, przy użyciu kwestionariuszy badawczych, wykazano występowanie dodatniej zależności między rolami a postawami rodzicielskimi. Udowodniono też, że wysoka prężność może pełnić rolę czynnika ochronnego przed przyjmowaniem negatywnych postaw. Uzyskane wyniki mogą okazać się pomocne zarówno w terapii jak i profilaktyce osób uzależnionych i ich rodzin.

The aim of this study was to examine the influence of roles adopted in dysfunctional families (Hero, Mascot, Lost Child, Scapegoat, and Enabler) on the adult parenting attitudes (acceptance-rejection, overdemanding, autonomy, inconsistency, overprotection) among women raised in families with alcohol-related issues. Building upon contemporary psychology's understanding of resilience and its impact on positive individual development despite previous negative experiences, it was decided to consider resilience as a mediator of the aforementioned variables. In the first chapter of the theoretical part, theories of parenting attitudes and their transformation over the years were discussed. The perception of parenting attitudes by children and their influence on behavior was also addressed. The second part focused on the phenomenon of psychological resilience, its determinants, and ways of fostering it. The final section of the theoretical deliberations revolved around the roles adopted by children in dysfunctional families. Based on the discussed scientific theory and using research questionnaires, a positive relationship between roles and parenting attitudes was found. It was also demonstrated that high resilience can serve as a protective factor against adopting negative attitudes. The obtained results can be helpful both in therapy and prevention for individuals with addiction issues and their families.
