Developing and enhancing students' motivation in the education process

Przedmiotem badań w niniejszej pracy jest zjawisko kształtowania się motywacji uczniów w procesie edukacyjnym. Jej cel stanowi poznanie działań powodujących osłabianie i wspieranie motywacji młodzieży gimnazjalnej, podejmowanych przez ich otoczenie. Sformułowany został główny problem badawczy, brzmiący następująco: Jakie działania zmierzające do wspierania motywacji uczniów gimnazjum podejmowane są w szkole i środowisku rodzinnym? Dodatkowo wymieniono cztery problemy szczegółowe. Procesem badawczym zostali objęci uczniowie gimnazjum z Nowego Sącza, ich nauczyciele oraz rodzice. Posłużono się metodą sondażu diagnostycznego oraz sporządzono ankietę dla badanych, w postaci kwestionariusza. Rozważania skupiono wokół najbliższych sfer aktywności młodego człowieka. Ukazane zostały działania nauczycieli i środowiska szkolnego, które stymulują i rozwijają własną aktywność dziecka w procesie edukacyjnym. Wyszczególniono, również słabe punkty funkcjonowania systemu oświaty oraz negatywne cechy postaw przyjmowanych przez pedagogów. Wskazano na pozytywne aspekty oddziaływania środowiska rodzinnego dziecka, poprzez wzmacnianie jego pewności siebie i wspieranie indywidualnych cech. Zwrócono uwagę na błędy w kształtowaniu relacji międzypokoleniowej oraz w nieodpowiednim doborze postawy rodzicielskiej przez opiekunów. Przeprowadzone badania obnażyły problemy uczniów w sferze edukacyjnej i wychowawczej, będące skutkiem działań dorosłych.

The study principally focused on pupils' motivation issue within the scope of educational process. It aimed to gain specific insights into the activities that either weakened or enhanced motivation in junior high school students, as undertaken by adults within their immediate environment. The main research problem was posed as follows: What specific actions aimed at enhancing the learning motivation in junior high school pupils were being undertaken in school and in their immediate home environment? Furthermore, the four specific issues were also addressed. The study protocol covered the pupils of junior high school in Nowy Sącz, their teachers, and parents. A diagnostic survey method was applied for the purpose, and a structured survey questionnaire was developed for the respondents. Principal focus rested on assessing the most immediate zones of young respondents' activities. The activities pursued by the teachers, and the pupils' interaction with school environment at large, were addressed as those stimulating and developing the children's own activities in the educational process. The weak points in the routine functioning of the educational system, as well as the negative attitudes adopted by some tutors were also specified. Positive aspects of pupils' immediate family environment were highlighted, as those effectively enhancing their self-confidence and supporting their individual psychological traits. Special attention was also paid to any errors in shaping up the intergenerational relationships, and inadequate parental attitudes. The study exposed a number of problems faced by the pupils in the educational area, as well as in their own home environment, both affected by a scope of activities falling well within the adults' scope of control.
