Doctor House character in the contexts of gnosis and its literary

XXI wiek stanowi erę o coraz większym poziomie medializacji kultury, która za pomocą komercyjnych i masowych środków dąży do przekazania treści z zakresu kultury elitarnej. Dostęp do najbardziej powszechnego środka przekazu, jakim jest telewizja oraz efekty badań tyczących się preferencji widza co do wyboru oglądanego gatunku kulturalnego pokazują, iż to serial w dużej mierze przejął funkcję piśmienniczego dokumentu, zapisu ludzkiej myśli, którą jest książka. Ze względu na ogromną popularność oraz listę otrzymanych nagród za fenomen wieloodcinkowego serialu uznaje się serial Davida Shore’a, pt.: Dr House. Tytułowa postać serialu uważana jest za fascynującego bohatera, który będąc wykreowany przez nowoczesną popkulturę, nie jest pozbawiony fundamentów wiedzy właściwej dla takiego medium, jak książka. Figura Doktora House’a dowodzi, że literatura, doktryny, ruchy religijne oraz filozofia, czy teksty około literackie stają się częścią artystycznej twórczości masmediów i sztuki elektronicznej. Będę dążyć do wykazania literackich pokrewieństw głównego bohatera serialu w oparciu o jego podobieństwo światopoglądowe i charakterologiczne do podstawowej doktryny religijnej, jaką jest gnostycyzm oraz systemów filozoficznych, których założenia korespondują z sylwetką Doktora House’a. Za konieczne uznaję wyszczególnienie konkretnych kategorii wraz ze wskazaniem poziomu i ustaleniem warunków ich wpływu na tytułową postać serialu. Głównym przedmiotem badania jest postać głównego bohatera serialu, którego światopogląd, rys charakterologiczny poddany zostanie analizie w kontekście fundamentalnych założeń gnostyckich, które wysunęła podstawowa pozycja literacka autorstwa Hansa Jonasa, pt. Religia gnozy. Odniesienie do niniejszej książki pozwoli na zbadanie fenomenu bohatera pod kontem człowieczeństwa, kontaktów społecznych i sfery mistycznej. Dodatkowo doktryna gnostycka zostanie dopełniona o wiedzę z zakresu jej pokrewnych dyscyplin, takich, jak: manicheizm, libertynizm, walentynianizm, kabała. Paralelizm między postacią a religijną doktryną zostanie uzupełniony o analogię wytworu medialnego z kreacją bohaterów literackich, w tym najbardziej zbliżoną do House’a postacią Sherlocka Holmesa z książki Sir Arthura Conana Doyle’a. W kontekście podstawowego systemu filozoficznego, jakim jest egzystencjalizm, zostaną zanalizowane takie zjawiska, jak: wiedza, nadczłowiek, samotność, ból, ascetyzm, dualizm, zło, aspołeczność, odpowiedzialność, ateizm i teizm.

The 21st century is an era of an increasing level of medialisation of culture, which by using commercial and mass media tends to portray the content from a range of the elitist culture. The access to the most common medium, which is the television, and the research results concerning the viewer’s preference as to the type of program show that it is the film series that largely took over the function of a written document, recording human thought, which is the book. Due to the immense popularity and the list of awards received, one can consider as the phenomenon the many-episode series by David Shore, entitled: Dr House. The main character of the series is considered to be a fascinating character who, being created by modern pop culture is not devoid of the foundation of knowledge appropriate for such a medium, as the book. Dr. House's figure shows that literature, doctrines, religious movements and philosophy, or paraliterary texts are becoming a part of the artistic work of the mass media and the electronic art. I will try to demonstrate the literary affinity of the main character of the series basing on his similarity of worldview and character to the basic religious doctrine, which is gnosticism, and philosophical systems, the assumptions of which correspond with the profile of Dr. House. I consider it necessary to list the specific categories with an indication of the level and with establishing the terms of their impact on the title role of the series. The main object of the study is the central character of the series, whose the worldview, characterological trait will be subjected to analysis in the context of the fundamental Gnostic assumptions, which was introduced by the basic literary item by Hans Jonas, entitled The Gnostic Religion. The reference to this book will enable to explore the phenomenon of the character in terms of humanity, social interaction and the mystical realm. In addition, the Gnostic doctrine will be complemented by knowledge of disciplines related to it, such as: Manichaeism, libertinism, Valentinianism, cabal. The parallelism between the character and the religious doctrine will be complemented by the analogy of the product of the media with the creation of literary heroes, including, the most similar to Dr. House, the character of Sherlock Holmes from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle book. In the context of the basic philosophical system, which is existentialism, there will be analyzed such phenomena as: knowledge, super-human, loneliness, pain, asceticism, dualism, evil, anti-sociality, responsibility, atheism, and theism.
