The text presents the fundamental elements of Japanese aesthetics. These include the minimalism and the beauty of Japanese gardens which allure with their simplicity and the perfect miniaturisation of landscape. Presently, one can also encounter, the so called zen gardens, where flowers, trees and shrubs are scant and the chief decoration is constituted by a lawn covered in white gravel with several protruding boulders. The gardens are arranged according to guidelines offered in catalogues which help to incorporate the Japanese style into the interiors of our houses as well as their surroundings. They suggest to replace beds with thick mattresses laid directly on the floor, purchase bed linen embellished with Japanese motifs or letters and introduce paper lanterns and low wooden tables with extendable supports which are perfect for tea-brewing. Instead of traditional flower vases, it is better to buy wooden containers and decorate them with bamboo, replace the carpet with a mat and a regular screen with delicate organza curtains featuring the red disc of the Japanese flag. Another element constituting the Japanese identity is the local cuisine, appraised by connoisseurs as sophisticated, light and intriguing. The highlight of Japanese cuisine is sushi served with soya sauce and wasal. Traditionally, the dish is accompanied with sake or green tea served in thick bowls and whipped with a bamboo whisk.pl
